MS Global 2007 : Stage 2
Sella Ronde (Passa Sella, Passo Gardena, Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi)
Tyler and Pat on a chilly climb up the Passa Sella
Today was the first real ride making a 64 kilometer loop out and back to Canazei. The cyclists covered four passes; the Sella, Gardena, Campolongo and Pordoi. There seem to be heroic performances on every day of these trips and today was no exception. Take Tammy Lucas from Ft. Collins. A little over a year ago she met MS Global ride veteran Jimmy Dunlap in a spin class. The two became friends and he started helping her with a training program. He invited her to participate this year and she agreed. Just days before the ride she was involved in a cycling accident in Colorado involving a car that totaled her bike. But she rallied and found new equipment last minute, and today, although she's a little battered, was the first rider through forty-one switchbacks and to the top of the final climb. A total champ. And such an inspiration to all of us.
