Warm-up ride around Canazei - September 5th

We met the group at the hotel and began the 3-hour bus journey to Canazei, Italy in the Dolomite mountains. It it majestic in this part of the world and the sensation is very similar to how I feel right before going out for the first day of skiing. In other words, it is cold! There is snow on the mountains and today there was snow in the air as we road at 44 F. The snow was probably blowing off of the mountains since you can't make snow at 44 F, but it was cold nonetheless. It is exciting to finally have the whole group together and to see all the faces from last year and the new faces from this year. There are a 4-5 people that are riding the 6 days who have MS so the trip takes on a new focus when we support them as they go up the mountain. We are at 4500 feet in elevation and have a long day ahead of us for tomorrow. Today was just a "welcome to cycling again" type of ride and therefore was a short 15 mile ride in the cold. It was also short because we didn't get on the bikes until 5pm because of the travel time.
